Hemsec has been a leading supplier of composite insulated panels since 1928. Our rich history has given us unparalleled expertise in insulated panel technologies, and with our eyes firmly set on the future, offering specialised steel and timber SIP panels for a more sustainable future.

Over the course of our 100-year journey, we recognise the impact we’ve had on the planet. It is now a core focus of our business to create sustainable, low-carbon products that stand the test of time with a positive impact on the environment.

Our people and planet first approach has led us on our journey to becoming B-Corp certified – though we have a long way to go we’re constantly improving our ways of working, challenging old ways of thinking and are always looking to do more.

Company History Timeline

C Hemmings & Co founded in Liverpool with the innovation and supply of insulated cabinets.

Cyril buys out former employer, ‘Hall, Crabtree and Heap’ and manufactures the critically important sectional cold rooms for wartime cook house stores.

Cyril, joined by son Keith, wins the contract for the most advanced cold-storage facility of its kind at Bridge Park, Greenford.

Exporting worldwide, the Hemmings’ panel system was known as ‘the Rolls Royce’ of cold rooms for everything from blood banks to chicken factories.

Cyril’s contribution to the local economy was recognised by the road named Hemmings Way.

Investment in a new high-speed automated laminating plant for PIR panels.

Investment of £2.5m+ for an advanced continuous double-band press to increase capacity and performance.

New SIPs product development and launch into new domestic markets.

SIPs expansion into Europe.

Investment in 85,000sq/m state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Huyton.

First of its kind new Coral press inaugurated by the Liverpool City Mayor.

Continue to supply steel panels into cold storage industries and expansion of SIPs offering into residential markets to Enable Sustainable Living.
